In this blog I will compare results of RISA 3D stress analysis (structural software) and Caesar II stress analysis (piping software). At the first glance, I was expecting that displacements and forces calculated in structural software RISA 3D will match displacements and forces calculated in Caesar II.

## Flow analysis

In this blog I will present a setup for pressure drop verification. Design criteria for the water cooled panel were maximum pressure drop of 10 Psi in one circuit, having flow of 110 gal/min per circuit. Design drawing of the water-cooled panel is shown on the figure below.

## FEA

This topic is beyond piping design, and the reason that I bring this topic is to shown how values from theoretical calculation can be verified in real life. Algor FEA software is environment for stress analysis. Verifying principal stress is not possible, since they are only theoretical values, but displacements can be measured and compared with calculated values.

## Pipe stress I

In this blog I will discuss longitudinal and hoop stress equations given in the Piping code B31.3 and the way that they are derived. Principal stresses (Eq.1) and max shear stress (Eq.2) are derived using stress transformation analysis for two dimensional state.
